The White Cube - Extension to a Victorian Villa

A minimalist kitchen living space extension to a traditional house.

Project Brief

The desire was for a a minimalist white interior and exterior which provided access to the rear garden and reconfigured the outdated kitchen facilities. To maximise the light on the north facing site frameless corner glazing and roof lights were incorporated. Internally a new linear route from the existing front entrance hall leads to the garden and new interior space at the rear facing the garden. A generous roof canopy provides some protection to the new patio.

PLAY

“Architects in the past have tended to concentrate their attention on the building as
a static object. I believe dynamics are more important: the dynamics of people,
their interaction with spaces and environmental condition.”

John Portman – Architect
