Bearsden bungalow - Extension

The existing house was compromised with small ancillary spaces facing the rear garden with views onto a nearby forest.

Project Brief

The rear facing small serving spaces were remodelled and a large rear facing extension added providing an open plan living dining kitchen with large format opening doors and a new master bed with ensuite. Planning requirements meant a traditional form was chosen with an innovative flat roof section hidden at the new ridge line to maximise foot print in the new master bedroom which features a balcony to the garden.

“Architects in the past have tended to concentrate their attention on the building as
a static object. I believe dynamics are more important: the dynamics of people,
their interaction with spaces and environmental condition.”

John Portman – Architect
